This course is suitable for those interested in databases, media and software development. Please enrol and pay using the link below.

Delivery

6 week evening class from 6.30pm to 8.00pm, Wednesday's weekly.

Location

This course will be delivered online, via Microsoft Teams.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements. However, candidates will require windows PC or Mac and a reliable internet connection. You should also have basic IT skills and be able to manage files and folders and install and launch applications on your device.

Course Content

Modules 1-5 constitute a good introductory to python programming. Modules 6-10 will take students into the construction of a useful computer application to store and manage their favourite music tracks and videos. This applications development will allow students to use all of the programming techniques they have just learnt.

1. What is python?- how do we install it under Windows and Linux?- date and variables

2. Developing and running python programs- the integrated development environment (IDE)

3. Data arrays- functions- CSV files

4. Building useful generic functions- loops

5. Databases

The pyTunes personal media application -

6. Structure and design

7. Coding and building the app- adopting good practices

8. Customising the app

9. Building an installation

10. Enhancing the application
