Night Leader Award – Now Delivered in Just One Day

Taking place at Innerleithen in the Tweed Valley, Scotland, the Night Leader Award is designed for qualified mountain bike leaders with solid night riding experience who want to confidently lead groups after sundown. It builds on your existing leadership qualification, extending your ability to guide others safely and effectively in the dark.

This course is for competent leaders who already have significant experience riding at night. It draws on the skills, knowledge, and judgement you’ve developed through your previous qualifications and time on the trails.

Training and Assessment in One Day
We’ve made things easier. The Night Leader Award is now a one-day course that includes both the training and assessment – all in one go. That means less time off, less travel, and no waiting around for a second date. You’ll save time, money, and avoid the stress of planning a separate assessment after a consolidation period.

Who Can Take Part?
Night Leading is open to all existing MTB leaders, including holders of:

British Cycling MTB Leadership Scheme registration is required. If you hold a Level 2 or 3 award, you’re already registered. TCL and MBL holders will need to register before attending.

Is This Course Right for You?
If you’re unsure whether you’re ready, just get in touch – we’re happy to chat it through. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a detailed course handbook. Take the time to read it before the course so you’re prepped and confident on the day.

You’ll need a valid first aid certificate to complete the assessment. If you’re confident you meet all the assessment criteria already, you can still come straight in for the one-day course.
