Description

In this class, you will embark on the next step of your creative journey to craft a captivating piece featuring Silk Shaded Mushrooms, a Stumpwork butterfly which is mounted on a meticulously constructed hexagonal box with a drawer and hidden compartments. This project is designed to refine your embroidery and box-making skills while indulging in intricate and elegant details.

You will learn to:

· Shade with long and short stitches, achieving beautiful gradients and textures using one strand of DMC thread in a size 10 needle.

· Add intricate details using stem stitch, back stitch, and freehand stitches.

· Create two needle-lace wings adorned with bead details, as well as padded satin and bullion knots for the butterfly's antennae.

· Construct a hexagon-shaped box and lid, perfectly tailored to showcase your embroidery. You will learn how to cut, cover and connect the card pieces together using a curved needle as well as how to add elements such as a draw handle and ribbon lid pulls.

This class is geared towards those with existing stitching experience. Prior knowledge of either silk shading or box making will be beneficial. The kit for this class includes fabric exclusively designed by the tutor, ensuring a cohesive and harmonious final piece. This specially curated fabric is only available as part of the kit. Please note that cutting and other equipment is not included as part of the kit.
