Health and social care is provided in settings such as nursing homes, residential homes for the elderly, hospitals and resource centres for people with learning disabilities. The demands for a skilled health and social care workforce are increasing.
This NC provides a range of topics related to working in this sector. You will investigate who needs care, what types of care are available and the responsibilities of a care worker.
Care workers must operate from a good ethical value base and so you will study the principles underpinning the Health and Social Care Standards. The programme will allow you to meet the professional standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
