The HNC in Cyber Security (SCQF level 7) develops knowledge and skills in areas such as data security and ethical hacking. The HNC also covers areas such as computer architecture, programming, networking, and professionalism and ethics in cyber security. This course is equivalent to the first year of degree study and we offer this course as a standalone HNC but provide candidates with pathways to other educational institutions to continue their studies. By studying this programme, you will develop suitable competencies and industry knowledge to enhance a career in computing.
Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;
Some of the units included cover topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Ethical Hacking and Computer Programming.
The course is full-time with delivery on campus over three days, for 36 weeks. There will be some hybrid learning opportunities and this will be flexible throughout the delivery.
Applications should have one relevant Higher qualification at Grade C or above in Computing Science, Maths, Graphic Communications or other Science/Technology subject in addition to three National 5s at Grade C or above or be progressing from a similar college computing course at SCQF Level 6. Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and their applications or enquiries are encouraged. Previous industry experience is not essential but would be advantageous.
