Upon successful completion of this award, candidates will achieve a Modern Apprenticeship certificate which incorporates the following:
Our Modern Apprenticeships are delivered online and at our campus in Newtown St Boswells via training sessions and the creation of a portfolio of evidence. Your tutor/assessor will have regular meetings with you to guide you through the creation of your portfolio which will allow you to demonstrate your competence in the workplace. Assessors can also carry out observations on site.
You will also be able to visit Borders College campuses to study and access library services.
Students will have 2 years to complete their qualification.
Candidates must be employed and working in a suitable environment to be able to provide evidence of their competence in the workplace.
Candidates can progress to a higher-level Modern Apprenticeship, higher education in college or university or undertake a relevant short course to further develop in their career. This course comprises of 3 mandatory units and 9 optional units.

Borders College is located in the Scottish Borders and offers a wide range of courses, from an introductory level through to advanced courses at Higher National level. Courses are available to study full-time or part-time, during the day or in the evenings and at a variety of locations, depending on the needs of our students.
The Women in Agriculture Practical Training Fund has been established by Scottish Government to support the personal development of women, providing them with additional skills to progress their careers and employment opportunities in Scottish agriculture beyond their current role.
The Next Generation Practical Training Fund has been established by Scottish Government with an aim to support those relatively new to agriculture, by providing the opportunity for skills development and training on the practicalities of agricultural practice as well as wider business and sustainability skills, in order to help them secure, sustain and progress their careers.
