Description

This class is designed as an introduction to the beautiful Whitework techniques of Broderie Anglaise and Richelieu as well as many other important whitework stitches. No previous experience of Whitework is necessary, but some experience of embroidery is advisable.

The design is worked on fine white even weave linen, using a variety of white threads. Students will learn several white work techniques, including: Ladder stitch, Beading, variations on Richelieu Bars, Pin stitch and a variety of Broderie Anglaise eyelets. The finished design is approximately 15x13cm (6x5. 75 inches).

The class will be split over seven evening sessions, with each session focusing on a different technique and time to stitch at your own pace in between classes.

The kit contains, instructions, threads, needles and the fabric with the design already drawn on. Students will need to have their own 8-inch hoop or equivalent sized frame, a basic sewing kit, a stiletto (a knitting needle will suffice if not) and scissors.

You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
