This course will focus on the role that QGIS plays in the process of designing and delivering peatland restoration projects. It will cover common use cases of the software and how to use the Peatland Action spatial data template. By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the basic skills to use QGIS to support the restoration of Peatland habitats which are vital for carbon storage and biodiversity. Course content: 1. QGIS Basics: Introduction to using QGIS software 2. Mapping Typical Peatland Erosion Features: Learn how to identify and map erosion features from aerial imagery. 3. Remote sensing: Introduction to using remote sensing and publicly available datasets as part of restoration design. 4. Qfield basics: Learn how Qfield can be used to capture data in the field. 5. Restoration design and reporting: Learn how to use the spatial data template used for mapping and reporting for Peatland Action projects.

The Peatland Training Fund, was established by NatureScot Peatland ACTION to support those already working in peatland restoration or keen to start, by providing the opportunity to develop their skills and to grow and develop in the sector.
