The RSN provides a range of embroidery classes for all levels and techniques.
This course is available on the Royal School of Needlework website.
Please note this is an RSN Experience class which will run from 10am-4pm at Arundells, 59 Cathedral Close, Salisbury, SP1 2EN
Immerse yourself in the historic charm of Arundells in Salisbury, the stunning former home of Sir Edward Heath, and create an exquisite embroidery motif inspired by the tea pot design on an upholstered chair from the museum's collection.
As part of your day you will enjoy an expert mini tour of the house and see the object which inspired the design. This class offers a unique opportunity to blend artistic expression with a touch of history, and is perfect for all skill levels from beginners to advanced stitchers.
Join RSN Tutor, Emma Broughton, to stitch this intricate teapot design, printed on high-quality cotton. Using a selection of perle and stranded cotton threads, you will explore various stitches, including buttonhole, stem, chain, padded satin, and French knots. These stitches will bring the teapot to life, highlighting its delicate details and elegant contours.
Throughout the day, you will be guided on how to work each stitch to achieve precision and finesse in your work. Whether you are new to embroidery or looking to refine your skills, this class will provide a supportive and inspiring environment to develop your craft.
The class cost includes all materials and necessary equipment. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and magnifiers if you need them, but you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day. All aspects of the design will be covered during the class and a full instruction booklet will be included in the kit to enable you to complete the design at home.
