The RSN provides a range of embroidery classes for all levels and techniques.
This course is available on the Royal School of Needlework website.
Taking inspiration from the Lower Orangery Garden at Hampton Court Palace, this embroidery design artfully captures the essence of fresh oranges with its vibrant hues and intricate depiction of tiny orange blossoms. Complemented by the soft elegance of a light blue gingham check fabric, and the dimpled texture of the oranges, it presents a harmonious blend of elements.
Your day will also include a visit to the garden.
This design offers an introduction to basic Stumpwork whilst incorporating various Surface Stitches. It provides an excellent opportunity to master basic needlelace stitches and foundational embroidery techniques. You will learn how to use felt layered padding to add dimension to the oranges, as well as how to execute Corded Buttonhole Stitch, Back Stitch, Brick Stitch, Stem Stitch, and Detached Chain Stitch.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
You can explore many more stitches on the RSN Stitch Bank.
Please note this is an onsite class which will run from 10am-4pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU.
