FSTC's Forest School training is a blend of experiential woodland learning, complimented by online self-paced and tutorial sessions covering pedagogy, woodland management and health and safety. All levels from 5 - introduction to 8- leader are available on this course. Level 8 price is given below.
Karen Yearsley is an experienced Forest School Trainer who has been delivering courses for over 10 years.. She also runs a forest school programme in her local primary school, which has been running for for 14 years and which won a Scottish Education Award. Karen has a BSc (hons) in Conservation Management (Stirling) and PGCE (Dundee) as well as various professional qualifications (Bat licence, Professional tree inspection) and other practical qualifications (chainsaw etc). She has a background in rangering, but now works as an ecologist as well as running Forest School, and other outdoor learning training.
The Future Forestry Training Fund, was established by Scottish Forestry to support those relatively new to forestry, by providing the opportunity to develop their skills relating to the practicalities of forestry practice as well as wider business and sustainability skills, in order to help them secure, sustain and progress their careers.
The Women in Forestry Practical Training Fund, was established by Scottish Forestry to support the personal development of women, providing them with additional skills to progress their careers and employment opportunities in forestry beyond their current role. With the support of Future Woodlands Scotland we are delighted to be able to reopen for applications.
