Create this charming Hearts & Flowers Hardanger needlebook over 6 classes with RSN Tutor Sarah de Rousset-Hall.
Students will have the option to work the design either all in white, or with hand dyed coloured Perle threads, using traditional Hardanger stitches before making up the piece into a 4-page needlebook filled with 100% wool felt to keep your needles in tip-top condition.
Class 1: Tacking out & Satin Stitch Kloster Blocks
Class 2: Pulled thread Stitches
Class 3: Surface Stitches
Class 4: Cutting back & weaving bars
Class 5: Filling Stitches
Class 6: Making up
The finished needlebook measures 10 x 10 cm.
The kit includes: 36 Count Edinburgh Linen, including a piece for sampling, white and coloured Perle threads, sewing threads, needles, 100% wool felt, Blue cotton fabric and mount card for making up. Full written instructions, including the Hardanger stitch chart are also included.
As well as the materials provided in the kit, students will need: a 12” (or larger) slate or roller frame (please frame up your fabric before class), an 8” hoop for sampling and sharp embroidery scissors.
Glass head pins, fabric scissors, cutting mat, Stanley knife, metal ruler and PVA glue or double sided sticky tape will be needed in classes 5 & 6.
This class is suitable for stitcher of all levels, but it is a counted technique, so experience of counted work will be helpful.
