With this Foundation Apprenticeship, you'll be prepared for a wide range of different Social Care roles. In Scotland, over 203,000 people work in social services. The number of jobs are still growing, and there are great opportunities for progression, too.
Delivery will be a mix of online and in campus learning.
Friday 10. 00am to 2. 00pm - campus
Friday afternoon 2. 00pm to 4. 30pm - work placement
Hours of learning per week 9 hours.
Pupils should have an interest and enthusiasm in exploring this area of work and be able to work at SCQF 6 (Higher Level). Applicants should be able to demonstrate values and principles relevant to working in care, such as kindness and empathy. Pupils should have a good level of written and spoken English. Communication with users of service as well as with staff in the workplace is a key competence. Ability to work with others, problem solve and a commitment to appropriate values is necessary. Pupils are required to undergo a PVG prior to placement.
There are a number of career pathways that the Social Services and Healthcare FA can lead to including: Adult Nurse, Childrens Nurse, Care Home Manager, Care Assistant Residential, Support Worker, Social Worker, MA SVQ Social Services & Healthcare SCQF level 7, HNC Childhood Practice and HNC Social Services SCQF level 7 Higher Education.
