Why take this course?

This course familiarises novice seafarers with the employment and working conditions on board merchant vessels.

Ahead of going to sea it provides you with a basic induction in safety procedures, accident prevention and familiarisation of the employment conditions and working environment.

  • Observing safer working practice
  • Understanding the chain of command and orders contributing to effective human relationships on board ship
  • Assessment is by direct observation, oral and written questioning and simulated scenarios
