Description

The BPEC Low Temperature Hot Water Heating Systems is a 2 day course and although designed as a recommended pre-requisite qualification to allow progression onto the BPEC suite of Heat Pump qualifications, this qualification can also be taken by those experienced operatives wishing to develop their skills in the design of low temperature domestic heating systems.

The holder of this qualification is not recognised as a competent hot water and heating systems (low temperature) installer. However, the holder is recognised as being competent to carry out the design of hot water and heating systems (low temperature).

This unregulated qualification has been developed to enable plumbing and heating engineers to demonstrate their competence in:
• Understanding the importance for the correct calculation of heat loss from a dwelling when low temperature hot water heating systems are being specified and installed.
• Deigning low temperature heating systems for dwellings that use low temperature and/or low carbon heat sources.

Candidates will need to have some knowledge of plumbing and the water industry.

Course outline

  • The requirements of relevant Regulations, Standards and Guidance relating to domestic low temperature hot water heating systems and hot water supply.
  • How to Calculate the heat loss from a dwelling for low temperature hot water heating design.
  • How to calculate the hot water requirements of a dwelling.
