The RSN provides a range of embroidery classes for all levels and techniques.
This course is available on the Royal School of Needlework website.
You will be encouraged to use fabrics and threads from your personal stash of materials to create a unique piece of work that reflects your personality and colour combinations.
Please note there is no kit supplied and participants are encouraged to utilise a selection of their own materials for this class.
This 1 day class will introduce you to some techniques to develop your own abstract embroidery by experimenting with different stitches to create form and texture.
You will be encouraged to use fabrics and threads from your personal stash of materials to create a unique piece of work that reflects your personality and colour combinations.
During the course we will be experimenting with Appliqué, Padding, Fabric Manipulation, Couching, beads & sequins, Stumpwork stitches and other Surface Stitches.
It would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes. This is a wonderful opportunity to use a variety of fabrics including cotton and organza, a selection of interesting threads with different thicknesses including metallic threads. Some different size beads and sequins and other random objects to be sewn down, eg buttons, washers, twigs…. The possibilities are endless!
