This course is suitable for both new entrant AND experienced crofters. Have you been asking yourself:- How can I prepare for changes in agricultural policy? How can I make my croft more sustainable:- economically & environmentally? What can I learn from others to adapt my crofting practice - for climate change, biodiversity, and more? What resources are available to support me? Answers to these and other questions in our in-person, interactive two day training course. Ollaberry Hall; Friday 7th & Saturday 8th March 2025. Members:- £50; Non-members:- £80 The course will be co-designed with participants choosing modules from the following topics: (i) Land Management; (ii) Animal Management; (iii) Horticulture/Silviculture/Agro-forestry; (iv) Economic Sustainability. We cannot guarantee that you will get all your preferences, depending on who else signs up, but we will do our best. Aims: • To advocate for crofting so that its value is recognised from within communities to government. • To support crofters to meet the challenges of a changing world. • To champion the need for crofting to remain accessible and affordable for young people in crofting communities. Objectives: • To lobby policymakers within government to ensure the crofters' voice and concerns are heard at all levels. • To provide information, training and advice to crofters through publications, webinars, events, courses and our advice service. • To support new entrant crofters to understand the history and value of crofting, to learn from their experienced peers, and to understand their obligations.
