This HND in Horticulture (Landscape Design) has been designed by subject specialists with a unique focus on the art and science of creating sustainable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces. By enrolling in this course, you will have access to SRUC’s design studio, research gardens, and glasshouses, providing invaluable hands-on learning opportunities throughout your journey as a Horticulture (Landscape Design) student.
Throughout the course, you will develop the skills, knowledge, professional behaviors, and values needed to excel in the landscape design sector or pursue further academic studies.
Delivered by experienced landscape designers, horticulturists, and environmental scientists, the course is structured to offer authentic, real-world experiences. In the first year, you will study a broad range of specialisms to give you a better understanding of the horticulture sector. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced design techniques and the integration of innovative technologies for sustainable landscapes, emphasizing the role of landscape design in benefiting communities, the environment, and the economy. You’ll also engage in independent research, allowing you to explore a specialized area of interest.
Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) was established in 2012 through the merger of the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) with Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge Colleges. Through these institutions, we can trace our lineage back over 100 years.
