Why take this course?

Sewing has re-emerged in the 21st Century as a fun art form and a great way to express one’s creativity in a very practical way. This beginners level course offers a firm introduction to this useful craft, and is intended to provide anyone with an interest in fabrics and fashion with basic sewing skills, as well as an understanding of materials and textiles. Upon course completion you should have at least one completed fabric piece, and will have the skills needed to sew your own unique creations/textile pieces for your home.

What you will experience

You will be given plenty of hands-on training, and by the end of the course you will be able to demonstrate independence and creativity in the use of equipment and textiles. Outcomes include:

  • Basic sewing skills (hand and machine)
  • Introduction to the use of a sewing machine
  • Using specialist equipment for the manufacture of a textile item
  • Using quick methods to make an item
  • Applying creative craft skills to introduce originality to your textile items
