Our new How to Farm and live off the land course is the course that we always wanted to exist in the UK but didn’t. A week long immersion into life on the land. This course is as relevant to smallholders and small scale producers as it is to new entrant farmers, existing farmers wanting to change, advisors and educators. At Lynbreck, we share with you how we do it our way, showcasing what it takes to build and run a successful and diversified farming business, focussing on personal happiness, building soil and biodiversity and financial viability. We teach modules that include working with pastured layers, cattle, rare breed pigs and bees as well as an introduction to setting up an on farm micro butchery, all of which will include indoor sessions on costs and income. In other modules we look at how to set up and run a business from scratch, sales and marketing as well as an introduction to setting your life goals and targets through the framework of Holistic Management. And of course, we teach modules on trees and agroforestry as well as fruit and veg growing in our kitchen garden and polycrub. We live and work Lynbreck and we can’t imagine life any other way. Your teachers will be crofters Lynn and Sandra who you will spend all week with. As well as learning from us, we offer complimentary catering using as much of our own croft grown produce as possible, as well as sourcing as many organic ingredients as we can. And to really get the whole experience we offer free camping for the duration of the course. Facilities provided include a compost loo and and access to a shower. If you prefer to stay in local accommodation, we can provide some recommendations, but we strongly recommend attendees join us for all meal sessions. Sorry we are not able to accept any dogs and please read our website terms and conditions
Lynbreck Croft is a multi-award winning regenerative farming unit in the Cairngorms National Park. Run by Lynn and Sandra, it is a leading example of how to get into farming and growing your own food from scratch, all the while building soil and increasing biodiversity, staying happy and healthy and being financially resilient.
