Description

Ideal introductory day for those considering using horses for farming, logging or around the smallholding. Experience a 'day in the life' of horse ownership and responsibilities, from feeding to foot-care, insurance requirements to vet visits, you'll get a rounded and honest picture of what is involved. You'll learn about: Space and living requirements Horses for courses, what kind of horse would suit your requirements Paddock maintenance for health Feed and supplements Kit required (and what isn't needed!) and how to use it Hoof structure, it's importance and how to maintain healthy feet - as the old saying goes, no hoof, no horse! Learn about requirements such as vaccinations, boosters and worming protocol. You’ll get to practice much of what you've learned as we go on this very hands-on day - you'll feed, brush, pick out feet and any other TLC as needed. We’ll show you how to get your pony doing warm up stretches, how to exercise them and cool them down. You'll leave knowing whether horse ownership is right for you, the role and responsibilities, expected and potential costs. All of our courses have limited attendees so you'll have plenty of time to ask questions specific to your requirements. We can also provide camping at an additional cost.
