If you are interested in developing sewing and garment construction skills this course will provide you with relevant skills in cutting, sewing and constructing garments commonly used by the fashion industry. 

You’ll develop the artistic ability, the skills and techniques required to construct a basic garments which you will make on the course.  

Working in the Fashion and Textiles studios you will be given training on how to use domestic and industrial sewing machines and overlockers and garment construction.  The course includes pattern cutting for beginners to support basic garment design and construction.

This award is mainly practical and creative in focus but requires precision, discipline, and self motivation to develop your skills and knowledge.

Applicants should have a keen interest in fashion, design and textiles. Ideally, they should have some degree of aptitude for sewing and ESOL National 4 or equivalent (for anyone who doesn't have English as their first language).
