The Aim of the Course is to:

Provide the candidates with a knowledge and understanding of the safety procedures and precautions before and during excavation work.

The Objectives of the Course are to enable delegates to:

  • Select typical site plans

  • Identify underground apparatus

  • Use pipe and cable locaters

Course Summary

Candidates will participate in theory lessons all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering;

  • Interpretation of utility maps

  • Symbols used by utility companies on maps

  • Transferring of information

  • Review of HSG 47 – Avoiding danger from Underground Services

  • Common types of underground apparatus

  • Support of apparatus in open excavations

  • Use of cable and pipe locaters
