After the success of our Adults Practical Lambing events earlier in the year we are opening the farm gates for another year of beginners Adults Practical Lambing Course; where we will cover the basics of lambing to get comfortable lambing own sheep flock, gain skills and confidence to enable you to move into a livestock role you have always dreamed of. On this course you will be able to gain experience and confidence in; • Sheep handling – safely catching and handling in lamb ewes/new lambs, • Animal welfare – lambing related disease/illness and how to mitigate risk, • Hand on experience of real life lambing ewes (if any in need of assistance during this course), • Housing for lambing- looking at different farming practices during lambing depending on breeds/farms, • Weaning, • Legal requirements, record keeping and tagging of new stock. Over 18s years only. Based on our farm in Perthshire. Lunch is provided & included in the price of the course. The Next Generation Practical Training Fund has been established by Scottish Government with an aim to support those relatively new to agriculture, by providing the opportunity for skills development and training on the practicalities of agricultural practice as well as wider business and sustainability skills, in order to help them secure, sustain and progress their careers.
